🛒 In the aisle? How to check this ▾

1. Scan the barcode in the Dollar General app — it reads pOpshelf items, and it's the only way to see the true price before the register.
2. A penny at pOpshelf is register-only: it is never orderable online, and the same item at a Dollar General is usually still full price.
3. Cheap-but-not-penny finds (10-50 cents) sometimes CAN be added to a store pickup order — worth trying in the app.
4. The register is the final word, and a cashier can decline a penny sale. Be polite and don't push.

Rule of thumb: a penny is a lucky bonus, not the plan. Full pOpshelf guide →

⚠️ No longer in pOpshelf’s online catalog. pOpshelf has dropped this item from its website — usually a sign it's been discontinued or sold through online. That can make it much harder to find in store, but not impossible: clearance and penny items often linger on shelves (or in a back room) for a while after they leave the catalog, and stock varies a lot from store to store. No recent shopper finds yet — if you spot it in a store, tap “I found it” so others know it's still around. We keep its page up and scannable so you can still check it at the register, but it ranks below items that are still in the catalog — recent finds bump it back up.

Penny status varies by store — always verify in the Dollar General app or at the register. How →

⚠️ A penny is often triggered when a product's packaging or formula changes — the maker gives the new version a new item number and the old one gets discontinued. So the item on the shelf can look identical but actually be the new (full-price) version. Match the exact item number, not just the look — small differences in packaging, size, or wording are the tell.

Pricing & info come from pOpshelf's distribution network, not individual stores. DCs supply the stores, so items are usually there — but expect some inconsistency unless a shopper has confirmed it.
